City Water Light and Power (CWLP)

Two CWLP crews and a supervisor have been working in Douglas, Georgia — a town of 11,000, where a lot of damage occurred.

The Illinois Attorney General, in the lawsuit, said the release occurred in 2021.

The city is providing details to both state and federal agencies as part of a preliminary damage assessment.

The June 29 derecho left around 40,000 without electricity. Work has continued since to get everyone restored.

The scope of the damage and the number of power poles that need to be replaced has made service restoration more time consuming.

Officials say it could take a while to get power fully restored.
